Why I’m a grateful business owner

grateful business ownerIf you run a business or work for yourself, you’ve probably had some ups and some downs.  In fact, there may have been times that it seemed as if the weight of the entire world is on your shoulders.  But to me, the advantages of business ownership greatly outweigh the disadvantages.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I thought it would be appropriate to express why I’m a grateful business owner:

  1. Living  my passion: Having a business means being able to wake up each day knowing I’ll be doing something I love, exactly the way I most enjoy doing it.
  2. Being independent: I get to choose what services/products I provide, who I provide them to, what part I play, how I market them and how I deliver/produce them.
  3. Having flexibility:  I decide when I work, how much time I put in, and where I work from.
  4. Great customers: I get to choose who I work for and with, which has given me a wonderful cast of clients and colleagues.
  5. Being creative: I’m able to express my creativity in all kinds of wonderful and different ways.
  6. Lots of possibilities: I’m constantly on the lookout for new possibilities and the opportunities are as boundless as my imagination.
  7. The right degree of challenge:  I’m never bored because I can easily add something new to my repertoire whenever I want.
  8. Enjoyment of the ride:  It’s not only about achieving my goals, is about enjoying how I’ve chosen to reach them.
